This lightly mocha smoothie is built for busy mornings: leftover coffee, a frozen banana and pantry staples become a cold, creamy breakfast. The oats make it softly thick without turning it heavy.

- ¾ cup unsweetened oat milk
- 1 frozen banana, sliced
- ⅓ cup rolled oats
- 1 tablespoon almond butter
- 1 tablespoon unsweetened cacao powder
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup ice
Method
- 1. Add coffee, oat milk, banana, oats, almond butter, cacao and vanilla to a blender.
- 2. Blend for 45 seconds until the oats are no longer visible.
- 3. Add the ice, blend until cold, and pour into two glasses.

Good to know
Freeze coffee in ice-cube trays when you have extra; coffee ice keeps the smoothie bold instead of watering it down.
Questions, answered.
How do I keep it from tasting too bitter?
Use chilled coffee that is not over-extracted, and add the vanilla before deciding whether it needs a little maple syrup.
Can I use instant coffee?
Yes. Dissolve 1 teaspoon instant coffee in ¾ cup cold water before blending.
