A better way to take a break
The break that helps is often not the one that looks most restful from the outside.

We are good at making breaks into errands. Refill water. Check the parcel. Fold the thing. One small task becomes a little chain of tasks, and somehow the body is still at the desk when the hour is over.
A real break has a clean edge. It asks you to change the view, the temperature, or the shape of your body. Step outside. Put your hands under warm water. Stand somewhere you do not normally stand and notice three colors.
The point is not to feel transformed. It is to interrupt the trance of doing. Ten unremarkable minutes can be enough to return to a problem with slightly more of yourself available.
When the afternoon gets dense, try setting a timer for twelve minutes. Leave the room. Do not bring a task with you. Come back when the timer asks, not when you have earned it.
